The purpose of the BAFTX Junior Achievers award is to provide a summer study program for academically adept students from low income families in the Houston area.
General Description of the Award
The award takes the form of a two to four week residential course in Texas, USA or Great Britain where the student will receive an introduction to British or American culture. The Course will normally include visiting sites of historic importance such as NASA or the Tower of London as well as attending a top Broadway/West End play. The Scholarship includes air/ground transportation, accommodations, meals, and clothing along with a spending allowance. (* There is no Junior Achiever course of study in the United States for the 2010 academic year.)
Scholarship Requirements
A permanent resident of Texas; Documentation required (proof of residency required, SSN number, etc.)
Enrolled in full time education
Aged between 16 and 17 years
Consideration partially based on annual household income
In possession of a birth certificate, a valid passport or eligible to receive one
Maintain a competitive GPA/school marks and hold an excellent school attendance record
